Dr. Garcia 及Dr.Chiu與合作研究者近期於《The Journals of Gerontology: Series B》發表〈A comparison of dementia-free life expectancy estimates across competing algorithmic classifications: new knowledge and considerations from the health and retirement study〉一文。本研究使用「健康與退休研究」（Health and Retirement Study）資料，比較四種分類方法所估計的無失智症預期壽命，並分析不同種族／族裔、出生地及性別群體之間的差異。替代性演算法所產生的估計值大致與既有的 Langa–Weir 分類方法相近，但部分群體仍出現些微差異。本研究結果顯示，即使方法上的差異幅度不大，也可能影響對失智症差異的評估，並凸顯經過驗證的分類方法之必要性。
