Dr. Malhotra 與其團隊近期於《Journal of Dentistry》發表了〈Subjective masticatory function and healthy life expectancy among older adults in Singapore: a multistate life table analysis〉論文。這項研究使用新加坡具全國代表性的高齡長者數據，發現咀嚼功能受損與較短的總預期壽命、以及較少無失能的存活年數相關。在 60 歲時，沒有咀嚼功能障礙者，其不具日常生活活動 (ADL) 限制的餘命比有障礙者多了近三年。義齒的使用可部分抵消這些損失，但無法完全消除。這些研究結果強調，口腔功能是 healthy ageing 的重要決定因素，並支持將口腔健康篩檢與復健整合納入geriatric care。
